Lighting that suits the room, not just the ceiling.
Good lighting starts with how a room is used. A kitchen bench needs clear light to work by, a living area might suit dimmable downlights with a pendant over the table, and a driveway needs a sensor light that comes on as you pull in. James plans the layout with you, then installs LED downlights, feature pendants and outdoor and security lighting to suit.
Replacing old halogen downlights is one of the most common jobs. James removes the halogen fittings and transformers, installs LED downlights and checks whether your existing dimmers suit the new fittings. Plasterboard, concrete and raked ceilings each call for a different approach, and he confirms it on the quote.
If a downlight flickers, buzzes or stops working, the cause can be a failing fitting, a dimmer that doesn’t suit LEDs or a wiring fault. Downlight work is licensed electrical work in Queensland, so call James rather than opening the fitting. Every installation is tested, and workmanship carries the 15-year guarantee.

Can you replace my old halogen downlights with LEDs?
Yes. James removes the old halogen fittings and transformers and installs LED downlights, checking the ceiling space and any dimmers as he goes.
Why do my downlights flicker or turn off by themselves?
It can be a failing fitting, a dimmer that doesn’t suit LEDs or a wiring fault. Call James rather than opening the fitting; he traces the cause and explains the fix.
Can I replace downlights myself?
No. Downlight installation is licensed electrical work in Queensland. James installs and tests the fittings for you.
Can I keep my existing dimmer?
Sometimes. James checks whether it suits the new LED fittings and tells you before quoting if it needs replacing.
How many downlights will I need?
It depends on the room, the ceiling height and what the light is for. James plans the layout with you before quoting.
Can you install downlights in a concrete ceiling?
Often, yes. Concrete ceilings may need surface-mounted fittings or a different approach, which James confirms on the quote.
How much does downlight installation cost?
It depends on the number of lights, the ceiling and the fittings you choose. James gives you the price before any work begins.
Do you provide free quotes?
Yes. Request a free quote to discuss your electrical job, the scope of work and the expected cost before work begins.
Is the installation guaranteed?
Yes. Workmanship carries Keegan Electrical Co’s 15-year guarantee, and the fittings carry their manufacturer warranty.
